AI4U LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the TrailWise AI mobile application. This page describes the information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

• Account Data: When you sign in, we store your email address, username, display name, and (optionally) bio, avatar, and home location on our servers (hosted by Supabase).
• Authentication: Sign-in is handled via Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email magic link. Each provider may share your name and email with us. No passwords are stored.
• Location Data: When you grant location permission, we use your coordinates to show your position on the trail map, find trails near you, fetch weather forecasts for your location, and tag any hikes you log. Location is read on demand for these features; we do not continuously track your location in the background.
• Hike Activity: If you log a hike, we store the route, distance, elevation, duration, optional photos, optional notes, and start/end time on our servers. You control whether each activity is public, followers-only, or private.
• Saved Trails & Reviews: Trails you save or review are stored on our servers and (if you submit a review) become visible to other users.
• Device Information: We collect device model, operating system version, and app version for debugging and compatibility purposes.
• Push Notification Token: If you opt in to notifications, your device push token is stored on our servers so we can deliver alerts.

Public vs. Private Content

By default, your username, display name, avatar, and any reviews you post are visible to other TrailWise users. Hikes you log default to "public" but can be set to "followers only" or "private" per activity. Your email address is never shown publicly.

Subscriptions and Payment

TrailWise AI is offered as a paid subscription with a 7-day free trial. Subscriptions are auto-renewing and are billed by Apple. We never see or store your payment card information. Apple shares with us only the receipt and entitlement status needed to grant access to premium features.

Subscription state is managed by RevenueCat, our third-party subscription provider. RevenueCat receives your anonymized RevenueCat customer ID, App Store transaction details, and entitlement status. See the RevenueCat privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

AI Trail Analysis

When you request AI trail analysis or drop-pin insight, we send the trail metadata (name, location, distance, difficulty, features) to a secure Cloudflare Worker which forwards the request to Google's Gemini API. The Gemini response is returned to you and may be cached on our servers for up to 24 hours to reduce repeat-call costs. We do not send your account ID, email, or location to Gemini.

Weather Data

Weather forecasts are fetched from WeatherAPI.com using the trail's coordinates (or your current coordinates when you tap "Weather at My Location"). No personal information is sent to the weather provider.

Maps and Trails

Trail GPS tracks displayed in the app are sourced from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License (ODbL). Map tiles in the app are provided by Apple Maps; map interactions (panning, zooming) are processed by Apple.

TrailWise AI uses the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare — edge worker hosting and CDN

Data Security

All data sent to and stored by our services travels over encrypted connections. Access to user data is restricted via row-level security policies on Supabase. However, no system is completely secure, and you use the service at your own risk.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account data until you request deletion. You can delete your account at any time from the app's profile settings — this permanently removes your profile, hikes, photos, reviews, saved trails, and follow relationships. Subscription transaction records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained per their respective policies and applicable law.

Children's Privacy

TrailWise AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or this page, with an updated "Last updated" date.
